I have been with the firm since October 1, 2004. I was so lucky to go through a “pioneer” trace of a “greenfield” of the Japanese company as its first employee, even at the time when the only base was a rented flat at Prague Holešovice. Then the construction and all the related peripetia followed, to hire people, help set up processes and stabilize the situation with first troubles and misunderstandings. After four and one half years I was appointed the director after I had been assisting as a deputy to two directors, Japanese men, for two years and a half. It is like a schoolbook story. For me personally it is a challenge but at the same time a feeling of success and commitment as well. Speaking in general terms, Japanese firms are scarcely ever commended to a local management. I would say that T. RAD headquarters in Tokyo are pioneering in this respect, which is a great honour to me. My short-term visions are particularly to maintain the firm prosperity at the time of the economic crisis and at the same time to keep developing the company and make best effort to this. It is an exciting feeling to run an international – multicultural team and together build a system which should be functional in Europe (Bohemia) and which should also hold bearing elements of the Japanese firm culture. I think both sides can learn a lot from each other. The first presumption is, however, to understand each other and it is not always easy. Good and effective communication is a big priority for me. I believe if people understand one another, if one understands the needs of the other and in addition they are trying to meet halfway, then a firm success is already within reach. It is not certainly the only guaranty of success but as long as this works, a company need not waste energy to solve conflicts, misunderstandings and can pay full attention to customer-oriented processes.
